Position Overview:
As the Software/Hardware Development Manager, you will lead the development and execution of customized software and hardware in a highly regulated environment. Shadin’s products are based on embedded ARM/CORE processors running a ‘bare metal’ OS. This role requires deep technical understanding in the field of embedded software, thorough knowledge of the aerospace development process, a passion and experience developing people and teams. The role leads a technical team of engineers in software, electrical and mechanical disciplines pioneering innovative solutions to solve unique customer challenges.
This is NOT a remote position.
Responsibilities:
Resource, plan, and execute on engineering activities to meet customer requirements
Operate in a multi-project environment with high demand schedules while meeting the goal of driving programs forward.
Drive schedules, optimize development activities and resources, and remove obstacles.
Expertise in developing requirements from customer needs, occasionally with minimal technical definition.
Utilize DOORS and other tools for design control of requirements
Knowledge of robust requirement definition, including clarity, singularity and tracability
Thorough understanding of, and ability to participate in, software development activities including code development and review
Oversee mechanical, electrical, and software development to ensure engineering solutions are of the highest quality and meet organizational goals.
Review design, process and documentation outputs.
Understand and propose architectural improvements to Shadin’s software and hardware
Develop hardware and software tools in support of product qualification
Provide engineering expertise in the maintenance and support of legacy products
Support the development of documentation necessary for FAA certification and new product release
Qualifications:
BS or MS in software engineering, electrical engineering, or related degree required
10+ years of engineering experience, managing engineering projects and teams in a regulated industry (medical device, aerospace, automotive, etc.); preference in the aerospace industry.
Must be extremely well-organized, capable of handling multiple details simultaneously, and able to easily move between strategic and tactical work.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Knowledge of DOORS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to work on a team with other departments to collectively meet the organization’s and customer’s needs
Demonstrated time management and project management skills
Experience with aircraft systems: ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RTCA DO-178/DO-254, MIL-STD-461 / MIL-STD-810 / DO-160 is desired
Experience with aviation, avionic hardware design and development are a plus
