Position Overview:

As the Software/Hardware Development Manager, you will lead the development and execution of customized software and hardware in a highly regulated environment. Shadin’s products are based on embedded ARM/CORE processors running a ‘bare metal’ OS. This role requires deep technical understanding in the field of embedded software, thorough knowledge of the aerospace development process, a passion and experience developing people and teams. The role leads a technical team of engineers in software, electrical and mechanical disciplines pioneering innovative solutions to solve unique customer challenges.

This is NOT a remote position. 

Responsibilities:

• Resource, plan, and execute on engineering activities to meet customer requirements
• Operate in a multi-project environment with high demand schedules while meeting the goal of driving programs forward.
• Drive schedules, optimize development activities and resources, and remove obstacles.
• Expertise in developing requirements from customer needs, occasionally with minimal technical definition.
• Utilize DOORS and other tools for design control of requirements
• Knowledge of robust requirement definition, including clarity, singularity and tracability
• Thorough understanding of, and ability to participate in, software development activities including code development and review
• Oversee mechanical, electrical, and software development to ensure engineering solutions are of the highest quality and meet organizational goals.
• Review design, process and documentation outputs.
• Understand and propose architectural improvements to Shadin’s software and hardware
• Develop hardware and software tools in support of product qualification
• Provide engineering expertise in the maintenance and support of legacy products
• Support the development of documentation necessary for FAA certification and new product release

Qualifications:

• BS or MS in software engineering, electrical engineering, or related degree required
• 10+ years of engineering experience, managing engineering projects and teams in a regulated industry (medical device, aerospace, automotive, etc.); preference in the aerospace industry.
• Must be extremely well-organized, capable of handling multiple details simultaneously, and able to easily move between strategic and tactical work.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of DOORS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Demonstrated ability to work on a team with other departments to collectively meet the organization’s and customer’s needs
• Demonstrated time management and project management skills
• Experience with aircraft systems: ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RTCA DO-178/DO-254, MIL-STD-461 / MIL-STD-810 / DO-160 is desired
• Experience with aviation, avionic hardware design and development are a plus
