Altitude source for the GPS and "encoded data" serializers GPS Systems require altitude data to perform certain correction, including missing satellite information.  Also, to maintain 3-D accuracy, GPS units cannot receive gray code output which was standard on old encoders.  They are designed to accept serial data.  Thus, a device was required to convert 10-wire gray code data from the altitude encoder to an acceptable serial format.  (That is, until Shadin Avionics designed the fine Altitude Encoder 8800X with built-in serial port!  See Falcon Altitude Encoder for more details.

High Resolution Serializer

Has the capability of sending out 1ft resolution altitude data to either the GPS/Loran and/or AMS-2000. Because a static input is received, Shadin Avionics' patented recalibration of the gray code after the first 200 foot change in altitude allows for 10ft increments to be displayed on the GPS or AMS-2000. If used with the AMS-2000 Instantaneous Vertical Speed (IVS) is calculated, which allows for a time based warning as you approach your target altitude.

Low Resolution Serializer

Takes existing 10 wire gray code and converts into an RS-232 format. This is a straight conversion of 100ft resolution gray code into 100ft resolution RS-232 format for you GPS/Loran.
