The low resolution serializers are a family of
Shadin Avionics products which take gray code as an input and output
serial data. They are referred to as 9000 series products.
They are referred to as "low resolution" because the
gray code has a resolution of 100 feet increments. So the altitude
which they transmit on their serial ports always has 0's in
the 1's and 10's places.

The high resolution gray code converters are a family of Shadin Avionics
products which take gray code and pressure sensor inputs and
output serial data. They are referred to as 9200 series products.
They are referred to as "high resolution" because
they use their pressure sensor inputs to get a better resolution
than the gray code's 100 foot increments. They are not calibrated
as a part of the manufacturing process. Instead, the gray code
inputs provide automatic
calibration during use, and the high resolution altitude is
obtained by interpolating the sensor input between the gray
code increment/decrement points. |
